Compare the actual offers for the same items and ask what each offer includes. Gold and platinum jewelry may be assessed by metal purity and weight, while diamonds, a recognized maker, craftsmanship, condition and resale demand can affect the value of a complete piece. A metal-only quote may not tell the whole story.

What can I bring to a private valuation?

Bring any grading reports, receipts, watch boxes or papers you have. You can still start without paperwork.
Should I clean or sort an inherited collection first?
Bring it as-is. Do not polish, dismantle jewelry or remove stones before we look. Keep original boxes and any paperwork with the collection. If you are unsure whether flatware is sterling or silverplate, we can help identify it.
